Chicken Gyros

Ingredients

Chicken Marinade

  • 500g Chicken Breast, cut into fillets
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 2 tsp Cumin
  • 2 cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp Ground Tumeric
  • 1 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch Chilli Flakes

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yoghurt
  • 2 cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Dill
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cucumber, finely diced

For serving

  • 6 Pitta or flatbreads
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cucumber, finely sliced
  • French fries

Method

  1. Add the chicken to a zip lock bag with the marinade ingredients. Stir well to coat and leave for 1-4 hours.
  2. Make the tzatziki sauce by combining all the ingredients. Refrigerate.
  3. Heat the grill to medium and oil the grates. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess drip off.
  4. Grill the chicken for 7 minutes each side until cooked. Chop into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Toast and open the pittas. Stuff with cucumber, tzatziki, chicken, and fries.
