Christmas Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter (225g)
  • 1 cup Sugar (225g)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3 cups Plain Flour (275g)
  • 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • Pinch of Salt
  • N.B makes about 50 cookies

  • Original Betty Crocker Quantities

  • 1 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 1 tsp Cream of Tartar

Method

  1. Cream together the butter and sugar.
  2. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  3. Mix in the remainder of the ingredients.
  4. Chill the dough for at least an hour, or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  6. Roll out to around 1/8” thick and cut into shapes using cookie cutters dipped in flour.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes and allow to cool completely before icing.
