Beef in Oyster Sauce

Updated: 18 Apr 2017

Ingredients

  • 225g beef, sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp corn flour

  • 1.5 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp mirrin
  • 5 spring onions

  • 100g kale

  • 50ml water

  • 150g jasmine rice

Method

  1. Finely slice the beef and combine with the garlic, soy sauce, sugar and cornflour. Stir until mixed and let marinate, ideally for about half an hour.
  2. Put the rice on to cook in the rice cooker; wait until the rice is nearly done before proceeding.
  3. Wash and finely chop the kale. Heat garlic oil in a large wok then add the kale and toss to coat. Pour over 50ml boiling water and cook for about 7 mins until the kale has wilted and is cooked through.
  4. While cooking the kale, heat the cooking oil in a wok over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and stir fry until nearly cooked. Then add the cooked kale, together with the spring onions, mirrin and oyster sauce. Stir fry until the ingredients are mixed in well and the beef is cooked thoroughly.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately with hot jasmine rice.
