Wholewheat Berry Waffles

Ingredients
- 75g plain flour
- 50g wholewheat flour
- 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 175ml skimmed milk
- 40g butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 65g frozen blueberries or cherries chopped in half
Method
- Place the plain flour, wholewheat flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl and stir to combine.
- In the Kitchenaid, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add the dry ingredients and give a quick mix until you have a smooth batter.
- Leave to rest for 5 minutes; preheat the waffle maker.
- Stir in the blueberries / cherries if using. Ladle into the centre of each grid. Close the lid and cook for a few minutes until the waffles are golden.
- Serve with chocolate chips, strawberries, and maple syrup.
Makes 5 waffles.
